When faced with certain issues that upset me, I often stop to consider whether I am being reasonable or not. Often I'll stop and ask people in my life, am I being reasonable? Many times they'll say yes. I'm not sure if they say yes because they don't want to upset me, or maybe I have a crazy look in my eye or something. So I pose this question: is it unreasonable to think that perhaps, when a contractor says they are going to put handrails on your steps, that they would probably put a pair of handrails there? Today after my day of being both student and teacher, I went to the property to look at what had been done today. I arrived to find my husband with a disgusted look on his face. And then I saw the one handrail standing there, on the left side of the steps, and I just burst out laughing. It was just amazing to me. After all of the weird things that have happened since April (I realized recently that during this entire time that we have been dealing with this house thing, I could have given birth to a child) and we've been working so hard to correct so many of the problems, now it's almost as if they're trying to annoy me by just putting one ridiculous handrail on our steps. So the question is this: was I reasonable to expect a pair of handrails? Or was I really asking for too much? I wonder if the contractor will agree to pay for the medical bills associated with the ulcers we are developing.

SO, on a good note, I had a wonderful voice lesson today. Very productive. I love the feeling after a lesson. I feel recharged, happy and ready to work during the week to achieve more results. Someone asked me today if I was able to enjoy my lesson in the midst of all my house turmoil. Actually, I was working so hard and focusing so much on my vocal exercises and pieces that I didn't have an unoccupied moment where I could possibly even contemplate it. I get in there and it's work, work, work. It's also nice that we laugh- she has a funny way of explaining things. When I mess up, I laugh. My lessons are fun. So if I had to list one thing that I was grateful for today, it would be for that hour of joy.

Martin & I just had a fun evening out. We went to the Friendly's that just opened here and then went to a movie. We have been meaning to go to the movies weekend after weekend but never quite make it there. We went to see ''Two Weeks Notice'' with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant. I'll see anything with either of them in it, and this movie was cute. There are so many films I'd like to see right now but we never seem to find the time.

Due to the holiday, I didn't have school, but I taught in the morning to some home school children who are new students of mine and really delightful. After that I fielded a variety of phone calls, one especially important, a big boss from the construction company to whom I directed an exasperated fax last week. He actually called me back, apologized for all the hassle and promised to get me some results. You know, it's always nice when you write to someone, think it might be a long shot, but they actually respond. That's actually how I bought my lot where the currently incomplete house now stands. I just saw it sitting there, didn't have a for sale sign, looked up who owned the property, wrote them a letter. A couple days later, they actually called back and they sold us the property. I figure that sometimes, people don't ask for things or find out things because they assume that since you don't know the people you're asking personally, that they won't bother to respond. But I guess the thing is, is that it never hurts to try, especially when the worst that can happen is that they won't write or call back.

Tomorrow morning I have my French lab and class. It should be yet another interesting day with our lab instructor. God help us.

HOORAY BUCS!

I don't usually watch football, but I watched the Bucs win against Philadelphia today. I was so excited for them. My extent of following the Bucs is usually watching the reports on them on the 6PM newscast. Anyway, I'm wicked excited for them and will definitely watch them on Super Bowl Sunday.
